কে-টুরও কী শেষে এভারেস্টত্ব প্রাপ্তি হল?  কে-টুও মি টু বলল? k2 says 'me too'*? Blimey!  কে-টু ও বলছে মি টু , ছবি সুত্রঃ ইন্টারনেট  এভারেস্টে ফি-বছর ট্রাফিক জ্যাম দেখে এখন জনগণ অভ্যস্ত, তাই গত কয়েক বছর কেউ সেরকম 'গেল গেল' রব তোলেন নি। সয়ে গেছে। তাই বলে কে-টুতেও কাতুকুতু? এও দেখতে হল?  'Savage Mountain'-এও সেই তারকেশ্বরে বাবার মাথায় জল ঢালার মত লাইন দেখে বিদগ্ধজনেরা সেরকমই বলছেন।  ব্রায়ান হলের পোস্ট সুত্রঃ ফেসবুক  নিমস দাইয়ের একটি পোস্ট শেয়ার করে ব্রায়ান হল ফেসবুকে লিখেছেন, "I am perplexed, and I am unable to process the importance of this ascent. সবসময় নয়, তবে মাঝেমধ্যে কিছু লেখার একটা তাগিদ আমার মধ্যে কাজ করে বলেই একসময় https://himalaya-raja.blogspot.com/   এই ব্লগ পেজটা খুলেছিলাম। নাম দিয়েছিলাম- 'Soliloquy of a Wandering Pilgrim or In Dialogue with Destiny' ।  স্বীকার করতে দ্বিধা নেই যে এটি একটি বিচিত্র নাম। এই বলছি 'সলিলোকি', আবার পরমুহুর্তে বলছি 'ডায়ালগ'। আসলে আমার মনে হয়েছিল স্বগতোক্তিও একধরণের আলাপচারিতা হতে পারে- হোক না তা নিজের সঙ্গেই। নিজের ব্লগে লিখতে পয়সা লাগে না এবং কাউকে জবাবদিহিও করতে হয় না! তাই জন্যই আমার এই ব্লগ পেজ।  নিজের যা খুশী, যখন খুশী লিখব- এই ভেবেই খুলেছিলাম। আবার যদি কোনদিন ইচ্ছে হয় তখন বন্ধ করে দেব লেখা। কেউ তো মাথার দিব্যি দেয়নি যে লিখতেই হবে।    সেইরকমই একটা ছোট লেখা কয়েকদিন আগে লিখেছিলাম এখানে। নাম দিয়েছিলাম- 'ইন্দ্রবর্মার হাতি' । বাংলার পর্বতারোহণের ভাগ্যাকাশে ঘটে যাওয়া ইদানীংকালের একটা ভেল্কিবাজি ছিল সেই লেখার বিষয়। (প্রসঙ্গান্তরে বলে রাখি বাংলার আট হাজার মিটারি পর্বতারোহণের সংক্ষিপ্ত ইতিহাসে এরকম আরও বেশ কিছু ভেল্কিবাজির ঘটনা রয়েছে)  যাইহোক, ইন্দ্রবর্মার সেই হাতি ন...

আমরা জানি, কুরুক্ষেত্রের যুদ্ধে অশ্বত্থামা ছিলেন কৌরবদের পক্ষে। এদিকে ছেলের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করবেন না বলেই গুরু দ্রোণও কৌরবদের পক্ষেই দাঁড়ান।  যথারীতি, যুদ্ধে দ্রোণাচার্য অপ্রতিরোধ্য হয়ে ওঠেন। পাণ্ডবদের মধ্যে ওঠে ত্রাহি ত্রাহি রব। তখন শ্রীকৃষ্ণ পাণ্ডবদের বলেন কোনও ভাবে যদি গুরু দ্রোণের কানে অশ্বত্থামার মৃত্যুর 'ভুল' খবর পোঁছানো যায় তাহলে দ্রোণ আর মারদাঙ্গা করবেন না। আর সেই সুযোগে, ধৃষ্টদ্যুম্ন তাঁকে হত্যা করবে।  প্ল্যানমাফিক, ভীম মালবরাজ ইন্দ্রবর্মার অশ্বত্থামা নামক একটি নিরীহ হাতিকে হত্যা করেন এবং সেই হত্যার সাক্ষী রাখা হয় যুধিষ্ঠিরকে। সবাই জানত, আচার্য্য দ্রোণ, আর যাই হোক যুধিষ্ঠিরের কথাকে অবিশ্বাস করবেন না, কারণ তিনি একজন বেঞ্চমার্ক সত্যবাদী ছিলেন কিনা। ব্যস, এরপর একজন নিষ্ঠাবান সাংবাদিকের মত যুধিষ্ঠির দ্রোণকে জানান যে, 'অশ্বত্থামা হতঃ- ইতি গজ'।  কিন্তু সেই সংবাদ পরিবেশনে একটা মোক্ষম চাল ছিল। যুধিষ্ঠির, 'অশ্বত্থামা  হত'- এইটুকু চেঁচিয়ে বলেন এবং 'ইতি গজ' - টুকু বলেন স্বর নামিয়ে, মিনমিন করে। একে বয়স হয়েছে, তার ওপর ধুন্ধুমার ধর্মযুদ্ধ চলছে, তার মধ্যে খোল...

পর্বতারোহণঃ একটি ছিন্নডানা স্বপ্ন - দ্বিতীয় পর্ব  অনিন্দ্য মুখোপাধ্যায়  (লেখকের মন্তব্যঃ এই লেখাটি দেশ পত্রিকায় ২০২১ সালের জানুয়ারি মাসে প্রকাশিত হয়েছিল। সম্পাদকের অনুমতি নিয়ে এবার নিজের ব্লগে দুটি পর্বে প্রকাশ করলাম। এটি  দ্বিতীয় পর্ব। কৃতজ্ঞতা এবিপি প্রাইভেট লিমিটেড। ) প্রথম পর্বের লিংক ৫ বিশ্বের প্রেক্ষাপটে পর্বতারোহণের সেই প্রতীক্ষিত উত্তরণের অধ্যায় শেষ পর্যন্ত না আসার কারণটা অবশ্য বাংলা কিংবা ভারতের মাটিতে বেনো জল ঢোকার মতো সরল নয়। বিষয়টি যেহেতু অনেকটাই ইতিহাসনির্ভর তাই এডওয়ার্ড হোয়াইম্পার এবং ম্যাটারহর্ন পাহাড়ের প্রসঙ্গ আসা অবশ্যম্ভাবী । ১৮৬৫ সালে হোয়াইম্পারের নেতৃত্বে ম্যাটারহর্ন শিখর আরোহণকেই ইতিহাসকাররা মোটামুটি ভাবে ইওরোপিয়ান অ্যাল্পিনিজম তথা পর্বতারোহণের জন্মলগ্ন হিসেবে ধরে থাকেন। সেই আরোহণের পর এডওয়ার্ড হোয়াইম্পার লিখেছিলেন, “পৃথিবী আমাদের পদতলে ছিল এবং ম্যাটারহর্নকে আমরা জয় করে ফেলেছিলাম” । আজকাল বেশ কিছু পর্বতারোহী বন্ধু (তাদের মধ্যে ভারতীয় প্রায় নেই বললেই চলে) অবশ্য বলে থাকেন, তাঁরা আর সামিটে দাঁড়িয়ে পতাকা ওড়ানোর ধার ধারেন না। তাঁদের কাছে আরোহণের বিশুদ্...

Rebirth in the hills: From the heartland of Garhwal to Unknown Spiti Kuari Pass trek and the Singekang Expedition Dunagiri and Nandadevi from Gorson top The Kuari pass is a wonderful trail offering a grand panoramic view of many of the famous Himalayan summits like Chaukhamba 7138m, Nilkantha 6596m, Dunagiri 7066m, Kamet 7756m, Mana 7272m, Trishul 7120m and Nandaghunti 6309m and of course Nanda Devi (7816m) and yet just the trek one would like to take if he/she is taking their first steps in this “devabhumi”-the land of Gods, Garhwal.
